Exploring Topsail Hill Preserve State Park is an eco-friendly activity offering unique opportunities for water-based adventure. The preserve invites visitors to canoe, kayak, or paddleboard on Campbell Lake, a nearly 100-acre coastal dune lake framed by ancient dunes and maritime forest. These rare ecosystems are home to the stunning bald cypress and fragrant water lilies.
For a contrasting experience, you can paddleboard or kayak in the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, accessible from the park's 3.2-mile beach. Be on the lookout for dolphins, shorebirds, and even whitetail deer along the coastal dunes.
Fishing enthusiasts can try their hand at kayak fishing, with redfish, Spanish mackerel, and pompano being common catches in the area.
Please note that personal watercraft cannot be used in the park to prevent the introduction of exotic plants into the dune lake. However, the park store offers daily kayak, canoe, and SUP rentals from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with paddles and life vests included.
